THE PROBLEM

Life in big cities has great social and environmental challenges, and many have to do with mobility. An example of this is that more than 15% of pollution in cities is produced by the goods delivery sector.

As a result, multiple cities are already beginning to take measures restricting access to vehicles in order to reduce traffic and make city centers more livable places for people.

In addition, with regard to the social part, the employees of the delivery companies do not always enjoy the best working conditions. For all this, a change is necessary in the delivery sector towards a more sustainable one, both with people and with the environment.

THE SOLUTION

To respond to this problem, Mensos was born, a sustainable delivery company that uses eco-efficient vehicles adapted to the characteristics of city centers.

Thanks to these vehicles, mostly electric bicycles, they can move easily around cities, with the consequent reduction of pollution, noise and the occupation of space caused by combustion vehicles. In addition, its workers have decent and quality contracts, something that the company promotes at all times.

THE TEAM

Alejandro Corroto grew up in Coslada, a few blocks from Puerto Seco, one of the main distribution ports in Madrid. This allowed him to work summers in various logistics companies. In 2004 he began his career in naval engineering, while combining it with two or three hours a day of training to compete in triathlon.

Eventually he dropped out and started working as a draftsman in an engineering studio, and it was in 2013 that he founded Mensos. 7 years later, the company already operates in several cities such as Madrid, Leganés, Valencia or Santander, and has a staff of 34 workers.

“I wanted to remove cars from the city because of the pollution and because of the public space. Being in shape was important to get started, because I made the deliveries myself! Today, we are 34 people on the staff, we work by demand, and if the work increases we hire people by the hour, we do not pay them for shipping as other platforms do. "
