PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Ciclogreen is an online platform that encourages teleworking and sustainable mobility in cities through gamification. Thanks to Ciclogreen, workers in companies and municipalities have incentives to move more sustainably, thus reducing CO2 emissions, air pollution, and in the new scenario caused by COVID-19, contagions.

How does it work?

- Users register their activities using a tracking application, which includes automatic detection for certain means of transportation, and are motivated by the gamification elements (gifts, rankings, points and challenges).

- Ciclogreen analyzes the accumulated mobility data to provide accurate calculations of CO2 emissions to companies, and provides visualization and analysis tools for mobility patterns to municipalities, helping them to design better infrastructures and services.

The platform thus enables its clients to overcome the two main barriers they encounter when they want to promote teleworking and sustainable mobility: lack of motivation and lack of mobility data.

PARTNERS AND ASSOCIATES

Ship2B: Ship2B is an accelerator of social impact companies that selected us in its Tech4Climate program in 2017. The acceleration helped us a lot to grow as a company, certify our environmental impact and align our service with the needs of our clients. Since 2018 Ship2B has become our main investment partner and strong support for the commercialization of our solution.

ULMA and Decathlon: these two companies have been strongly committed to us, implementing for years our incentive program at the national level with its entire community of employees and with the anticipation of rapid expansion at the international level. Both have actively helped us in the improvement of our platform and in its implementation in other clients via recommendation.

EIC, European Commission: We have been one of the winners of the EUvsCovid Pan-European Hackathon and we currently have the support of the EIC to drive our solution at the European level.

Spanish Office for Climate Change: we have a letter of support from the Spanish Office for Climate Change, under the Ministry for Ecological Transition.

PROBLEM

Applications of the solution in the current situation of COVID-19

People's mobility has a direct impact on the extent of the pandemic. Ciclogreen can help to promote mobility behaviors that ensure the containment of infections and a better social and economic recovery in the most immediate future:

1. Positive boost to teleworking: our platform allows companies to incentivize their employees to telework, providing a double benefit in the form of reducing contagions and saving emissions and air pollution.

2. Analysis of mobility patterns: our Heat Maps of displacements can help the administration to better understand mobility patterns in the city and design modifications of infrastructure and mobility services to curb contagions.

3. Support for the reactivation of local and local commerce, since users can exchange their points obtained in Ciclogreen for discounts at their favorite local stores.

Ciclogreen Social Impact has been certified by Ship2B since 2018.

IMPACT MISSION

In 2010, 73% of European citizens lived in urban areas. This percentage is expected to rise to more than 80% in 2050. Due to extensive economic activities in urban areas, many European cities face various transport and traffic related problems, resulting in a cost of loss of 1%. of the EU's GDP (around 100 billion euros, data from the 2015 European Commission). Air pollution causes 7 million premature deaths every year in the world, 430,000 in the EU (European Environment Agency); and increases the mortality rate from COVID19 by 15%. The decarbonisation of mobility is an urgent challenge to reduce air pollution, the death rate of COVID19 and CO2 emissions globally. The current mobility model focused on the use of private vehicles is no longer viable.

Ciclogreen (www.ciclogreen.com) is an online platform (tracking + web app) that helps companies and municipalities to promote telework and sustainable travel with incentives to reduce CO2 emissions, air pollution and, in the new scenario due to COVID-19, the reduction of infections.

ODS INFORMATION

3. Health and wellness: Ciclogreen encourages active mobility (walking and cycling) and also includes running incentives in its client programs, promoting a healthy lifestyle.

11. Sustainable cities and communities: Ciclogreen helps to reduce transport emissions in cities, both CO2 and the emission of particles and gases responsible for air pollution, helping to build more sustainable cities.

13. Climate action: Ciclogreen encourages and facilitates the change of habit towards the use of sustainable means of transport, involving a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, the main causes of climate change.

IMPACT TARGET GROUP

Ciclogreen's social impact mainly covers the population of medium and large cities and is based on the following elements:

1. Its incentive programs for companies, cities and universities accelerate behavior change towards the use of safer means of transport in pandemic situations, more sustainable and electrified (one of the specific objectives of the Green Deal of the European Commission) , helping to build healthier and more sustainable cities.

2. The direct impact of its promotion of sustainable means translates directly into a reduction in CO2 emissions, and therefore in a contribution to the mitigation of climate change (another of the objectives of the Green Deal).

3. Ciclogreen encourages the use of alternative means to the car, which implies a reduction of air pollution in cities, causing 7 million premature deaths worldwide each year.

IMPACT INDICATORS

1. Reduction of CO2 emissions (Tm): emission reduction calculated based on avoided car trips thanks to the use of other alternative means of transport, registered by Ciclogreen users.

2. Reduction of atmospheric pollution (Kg of suspended particles): calculated based on the reduction of emissions of Particulate Matter (PM), also called Particulates in Suspension, due to the use of alternative means of transport to the car, depending on the movements Registered by Ciclogreen users.

3. Employees using sustainable means of transport: percentage of employees of companies that have implemented a Ciclogreen incentive program, who move with sustainable means of transport with respect to the total number of employees.
